Bogor, October 21, 2025 — Indonesia, through the Center for Sustainable Forest Development (P2HB), is strengthening laboratory quality and competence through basic training on the SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Quality Management System. The training was held today at the Soediarto Room, Gunung Batu Campus, Bogor, and was attended by technical personnel from P2HB.
The training, which began at 8:30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the technical requirements of quality management systems for testing laboratories. Through this capacity-building initiative, Indonesia, represented by P2HB, seeks to ensure that its laboratory personnel have the competencies required to meet applicable accreditation requirements and strengthen the reliability and credibility of laboratory testing in support of sustainable forest development.
Pratiara Lamin, S.Hut., M.Si., Head of the Division for Facilitating the Implementation of Sustainable Forest Development, emphasized the importance of a strong understanding of SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as a foundation for improving laboratory quality. “A strong understanding of SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is a fundamental foundation for improving the quality of our laboratories so that they can compete at both the national and international levels,” she said.
The training featured Armelco Uyun, S.T., M.Ling., a Lead Assessor of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), as the resource person. Armelco delivered sessions covering laboratory accreditation systems, developments in the SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, and its practical implementation in laboratory operations. The training also provided an in-depth discussion of the clauses of SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and KAN-01, the specific requirements for testing laboratories. He emphasized the importance of reviewing laboratory processes and management systems and making the necessary adjustments to comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, with a focus on improving the quality of testing and calibration results in accordance with the laboratory’s background and objectives.
Divided into two main sessions, the training demonstrated a shared commitment to improving laboratory quality and professionalism. For Indonesia, through P2HB, this initiative represents an important step toward developing an accredited laboratory that meets international standards and can optimally support sustainable forest development.
